Emergency Housing

CAADC is the primary provider of emergency housing to homeless families and individuals in Delaware County.  Shelter is provided at the following sites:


Life Center of Eastern DelawareLife Center of Eastern Delaware County is a 50-bed facility for single adults and is located at 63rd and Market Street in Upper Darby.  The Life Center provides shelter to over 160 Delaware County residents per year. Case management, support services, and life coaching are provided to residents with a focus on permanent housing solutions and which promote economic self-sufficiency. Fee medical screenings are provided to residents on a weekly basis through ChesPenn Health Services.

    Services available to residents and open to the public:

  • Community Shower program: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
  • Narcotics Anonymous (NA) Meetings: Thursday, Saturday, and Sundays

    Evening Meal Program:

  • With over 40 churches, synagogues, mosques, and temples donating food and their time, Life Center is able to provide over 200 meals every evening to residents and community members in need of a hot meal.
  • Evening meal program (open to the public):  Daily from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

 


Wesley Emergency ShelterWesley House is located at 701 Madison Street in Chester and has 17 rooms for homeless families and single women. Wesley House provides shelter to over 240 individuals/75 households each year. Residents receive case management, support services, and life coaching, which aim at residents securing permanent housing and reaching economic self-sufficiency. Residents participate in financial literacy, nutrition, and life skills classes. Children receive toys during the holiday season, and respite care is available to the children residing at Wesley House.  Free health screenings are provided to residents through ChesPenn Health Services.

Families residing at Wesley House are assessed by the Recreational Therapist to support the families with connecting to community resources that focuses on parent education, as well as child’s early childhood developmental, emotional/social, educational, physical and childcare needs. 

The Recreation Department provides child care and transportation, and hosts special events for all Wesley House residents.


Family Management CenterThe Family Management Center (FMC) is located at 229 Norris Street in Chester and has 11 rooms for homeless families. The Family Management Center serves over 100 individuals/45 households each year. Residents of FMC receive case management, support services, and life coaching designed to move families from homelessness to permanent housing and to assist families reach economic self-sufficiency. FMC offers numerous additional services including an After School Program, free health screenings through ChesPenn Health Services, toys during the holiday season, and play therapy.
 
Families residing at FMC are assessed by the Recreational Therapist to support the families with connecting to community resources that focuses on parent education, as well as the child’s early childhood developmental, emotional/social, educational, physical and childcare needs.
 
The Recreation Department provides child care and transportation, and hosts special events for all FMC residents.

 


CAADC, Inc. offers limited short-term Hotel/Motel placements for homeless families and vulnerable single adults while waiting on shelter vacancies or alternative housing options.
