Food Assistance

Food assistance is provided to assist clients in meeting their basic nutritional needs. Services include food vouchers, referrals to food banks and distribution of donated baked products. The Food Participation Project assists families with enrollment in the Food Stamp Program.

Daily Feeding Program

The Life Center of Eastern Delaware County operates a daily feeding program at 63rd & Market Streets in Upper Darby. Any homeless person can come to the Life Center and receive a home-cooked meal prepared by one of over 40 churches, mosques, temples and synagogues and over 200 volunteers that donate their time and services. Nutrition Counseling Program

The Nutrition Counseling Program provides counseling to shelter residents on the proper food selection, preparation, cooking, and storage of food. Also, it provides counseling on the vitamin and mineral content of food products, nutritional health screenings and clinics, health benefits and health risks of various food products and cooking methods.
