May is National Community Action Month:

May is National Community Action Month.  CAADC is joining over 1,000 Community Action Agencies nationwide celebrating our efforts helping low-income people move towards self-sufficiency and economic stability.  Community Action Agencies have been supporting their local communities for over 54 years carrying out the Promise of Community Action to Help People and Change Lives.

CAADC CEO Edward T. Coleman stated “Community Action Month is a wonderful time to honor and celebrate the impact Community Action has in the lives of families and communities across the country.  Agencies are successful every day in helping families achieve economic security.”

Community Action Agencies were established in 1964 as part of the federal Economic Opportunity Act signed into law by President Lyndon B. Johnson.  Now 99% of the counties in America are served by a Community Action Agency with life-changing services that create pathways to prosperity.  Last year CAADC helped over 8,000 individuals with assistance in Delaware County.
